1 2 hours ago Full Job Description The City of Renton's Recreation division is recruiting for a Recreation Program Coordinator for our Youth Athletics and Fitness programs.
We are looking for someone with experience in programming a wide variety of youth athletic sports leagues and youth athletics/fitness classes.
This position hires, trains, and mentors' supplemental staff, recruits volunteers, and works closely with community organizations and the recreation team to deliver services to the community.
Some of the programs this position coordinates are basketball, pee wee soccer, volleyball, flag football, baseball, Renton Rookies; as well as coordinate with contracted sports camps.
This position is also responsible for overseeing the Fitness Room at the Renton Community Center.

Essential Functions:
Plan, organize, develop, and oversee assigned recreational and cultural arts programs and activities, such as the Community Center programs, athletics, recreation, aquatics, camps, health and wellness programs, and neighborhood centers.
Promote and represent recreational programs throughout the City, in accordance with the cost recovery and pricing model.
Enforce program and facility discipline policies and safety guidelines.
Manage all aspects of recruiting, hiring, and onboarding supplemental employees.
Train, delegate/assign, prioritize, review, and ensure timely completion of duties of assigned supplemental employees.
Develop work schedules to ensure proper supplemental staffing levels.
Provide a variety of general information to the public regarding Recreation operations and programs, evaluate the programs to improve customer service, productivity and efficiency, respond to questions, and resolve complaints as needed.
Negotiate contracts with service providers as required and assist with program budget development and control expenditures.
Prepare brochures and flyers, develop, and maintain promotional materials.
Complete requisitions for needed equipment, maintain adequate equipment inventories, and develop and recommend long-range capital improvements.
Set up equipment as necessary, inspect recreational facilities and equipment to assure safe and proper working conditions, request required maintenance and repair.
Observe necessary precautions to ensure public safety, administer first aid for minor injuries as necessary, and follow department procedures in cases of more severe medical needs.
Schedule classes and meetings and coordinate facilities operations and security.
Assist with evaluating, planning, developing, modifying, adding, and/or deleting comprehensive community recreation, cultural programs, and activities.
Maintain communications and effective working relationships with City employees, government agencies, community organizations and groups, and the public.
Coordinate programs and special events with other departments.
Contribute to an environment of teamwork and respect.
Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by recognizing the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals.
Remain current with relevant technological advancements as it relates to field.
Participate in and help provide cross-training in processes as directed by management to ensure a well-rounded team for coverage purposes.
Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree in Recreation or closely related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in recreation, health and wellness, or cultural arts program experience.
Or minimum 7 years of relevant education and experience.
Valid drivers' license.
Successful passing of a required driving record check.
Successful passing of a required background check.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Drive to offsite locations to perform essential functions.
Move throughout City facilities and buildings.
Operate a computer and other office equipment.
Communicate with City employees and residents.
Lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an office environment and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Noise level out in the field is moderately loud.
Noise level in the office is moderately quiet.
Work evening and/or weekend hours as needed.

Telework Program The City of Renton supports workers performing in a hybrid capacity (partial telework/in-office) where job responsibilities can be performed remotely.
This position may be eligible for a telework arrangement, working certain days/times remotely, based on the operational needs of the City and specific Department.
Regardless of job title or telework arrangement, City of Renton employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Recruitment Process:
